The Santa Rosa dam was designed and built primarily for irrigation, flood control and sediment retention. Santa Rosa Lake behind the dam covers 3,650 acres at its maximum. Activities include fishing, water sports, hiking, birdwatching and picknicking. There is also camping (some but not all sites developed) and wind surfing on and around the man-made reservoir. Several short hiking trails offer great views.
